Amirkhon AMINOV
Amirkhon AMINOV, (International Master’s Program “Energy efficient and sustainable building”)
There were few options for me when I chose the country for studying. It was easy for me to decide to go to Russian university, firstly because I won a scholarship to study here and secondly I wanted to live in Russia for some years, get to know its culture and traditions.
I'm fluent in Russian, so I never faced any difficulties communicating with others, so it was challenging, but not so hard to write my Master’s degree thesis about energy efficiency of building in a hot and dry climate.
Many thanks to professors like Strelets K.I and Romanov V.I, who were nice to me and helped me a lot with my studies. Now I am planning to continue my studies and get PhD degree. If you want to study here, don't think much and just come to Russia and live. Russia is far far different than what we are told abroad.

Energy efficient and sustainable building program is very interesting! Madam Strelets classes are so good that I will remember them forever. It also helped a lot with my Master’s degree thesis on “Energy-efficient technologies for sustainable reconstruction of historical buildings of Saint-Petersburg”.
I chose between Russia and Italy, and I’ve chosen Russia because of diploma validation. Now I have Napoleon plans for the future to challenge the construction field! If you consider going to Russia I would say just challenge it and spend an excellent time in the most beautiful city ever!
Anna FILIPPOVA, (International Master’s Program “Energy efficient and sustainable building”)
The most exciting thing for me were lectures by foreign professors (there was many of them!). It helped me with my Master’s degree thesis about energy efficiency of buildings with implementing an innovative material.
Now I’m working in construction and building design. To those who plan to go to Russia I would recommend to communicate with Russian people more and improve you language skills.
Matheus LIMA, (International Master’s Program Energy efficient and sustainable building )
I decided to go to change my mind about West European countries and go outside to my Comfort Zone, developing my skills as professional and person. Be open minded, Russian people are very helpful and kind, but be prepared for some adventure in the burocracy

After defensing of the bachelor thesis, I was convinced that power engineering is very interesting for me and I decided to continue the studying in this field. When I read the brochure about the master’s degree program, my eyes lit up and I accepted this challenge. I had only one concern and it was English language but my classmates created warm atmosphere inside of our group and through a couple of weeks I did not have any problems with it.
During the first semester we got interesting interactive tasks and lectures from Russian and foreign lecturers. The second semester I spent in a partner university – Leibniz Hannover University at the Institute of the turbomachinery and fluid dynamics, where we did a project together with German PhD students. Every participant was highly motivated and we got good results and published paper in the European Turbomachinery Conference. My master thesis was based on these results.
After one semester in Hannover, I was intern at Siemens company in Saint-Petersburg during 5 weeks and afterwards Siemens gave me a job offer as junior design engineer in the rotor department. Now I am working at Siemens company as a design engineer of the rotor parts of gas turbines. I want to say many thanks to all professors, teachers and people which taught, supported and helped me in the university.

Zakaria BABAOUSMAIL, (International Master’s Program "Energy technology”)
I had chance to go study in Ukraine, France and USA, but for me it was easy to go study in Russia, because procedures here in my country are easy compared to other countries, and also Russian study fees are acceptable.
In the university, I wrote my Master’s thesis which was about Integrated Solar Combined-Cycle Power Plant on Base of Gas Turbine (ISCC). I remember almost every moment in the university, because it was a great opportunity for me, starting from first day when I arrived. So these studies years really were unforgettable for me. There were little communication problems in the beginning, but later new friends there helped me. There are a lot of internship opportunities: I had training for solar panel montage and participated in some fairs of renewable energy.
I think coming to Russia for study is really worth it because you get to know new people, new cultures, as there are so many different ethnicities in Russia. The Russian culture is very rich, and Russians are very nice people. I recommend this wonderful experience, because it really deserves it.
Guo MINGYUAN, (International Master’s Program "Energy technology”)
I spent a long time to arrive in Russia, it’s not an easy journey, but I like Russian culture and scenery, so I decided to go.
Many courses have left a deep impression on me, such as excellent teachers, high-level skills, a pleasant learning atmosphere and writing my master thesis about how to optimize the inlet chamber of the centrifugal compressor.
In the future maybe I will continue my doctoral education. Sometimes I met some communication problems with local people, so my advice to foreigners is that you should better learn some Russian.
Archit BAGAL, (International Master’s Program "Energy technology”)
I will always remember the beautiful Polytechnic university campus and the library! And how exciting it was to write my master’s thesis on Gas Turbines. I wanted to experience the winter and the culture, that is why I’ve come to Russia.
After graduation I will take this experience of living in Russia and learn from it. Initially I had communication difficulties, but I made an effort to learn Russian and it became much easier. My advice is that learning the language is important to experience the Russian way of life.
Kaveh RAHMANI , (International Master’s Program "Energy technology”)
It was easy and interesting to come to Russia because it is easy to apply, easy to get scholarship, easy to get visa and there are high quality facilities. °ʷʼ¼ has very high quality theoretical system that helped me a lot with creating my master’s thesis about Application of Materials in Energy Technology. After graduation my goal is to get my PhD. There were a lot of exciting things during the study: good friends, good system, high quality education, very high international relation with other universities around the world.
Luybov GILEVA, Russia (International Master’s Program "Energy technology”)
I love Russia, that is why I decided to continue my studies here, despite of other opportunities. The most exciting things were internship in Germany and writing master’s thesis about the Design of a two-stage aviation type centrifugal compressor. Now I am going to apply and get PhD degree. My advice for all students is to enjoy every day of your studies!

Studying on an international program has become an interesting and very valuable experience for me. During the year, I was able to significantly improve my spoken English. I met people from other countries and cultures. I tried working on the project as part of an international team. I think this is a great experience, which I will definitely mention in my resume.
The curriculum was very diverse and focused on practical tasks. Teachers clearly present the material.
I think I will only have good memories of my master's degree at the Polytechnic.

Alphan BOZKURT, Turkey (International Master’s Program “Civil Engineering”)
I joined the Lakhta Center project in January 2019. Frankly, I did not know that a Turkish company managed such a big project in Petersburg.
Working at international construction sites of Turkish companies always brings with it heavy working conditions. Our responsibility in the field was the completion of the finishing work according to the project, and hand over to the quality control company. We were completing and handing over plaster, paint, plasterboard wall, suspended ceiling and raised floor installations. My responsibilities to complete these works according to the project quality and planned completion date, get approve from a quality company, quantify the amount of work which completed, preparation of BOQ and prepare the daily report.
My first period at the construction site was difficult because I did not know the Russian language. it was my first experience at the Russian construction site. For this reason, I had to learn the procedure and language and this process was difficult and contains mistakes. As time went on, my work situation got easier as I got used to the construction site and the languages spoken in Lakhta.
Lakhta center project is the style I want to work since my bachelor's time, so I feel like I have achieved a goal since it is a skyscraper project rising. I want to work in a position that will take an active role in the decision-making mechanism of high-budget prestige companies in the future.

Currently I'm working in a Turkish company in Ufa. It is called Limakmarash. Here I became a head of Geodesy Department. We have a road project here called - From Ufa to the Federal Road M-5 “Ural” Eastern Exit. Total budget is around 35 billion rubles and consists of 9km road embankment 1300m tunnel, 2600m viaduct-flyover, 2 interchanges. I plan 28 people for my department. Currently we are totally 15 people. Frankly speaking, Polytech study helped me in my interview greatly. I am completely satisfied with the current job!
Nguyen Anh Quan TRAN
Nguyen Anh Quan TRAN, Vietnam (International Master’s Program “Civil Engineering”)
Hi, my name is Quan. I come from Vietnam. I was a master student in Polytech during 2017-2019 in the program Civil Engineering.
I was always curious how the world looks like when I was in my country and I decided to choose Polytech is the starting point for my ‘world sightseeing trip’. The master program here gave me a wide perspective of the intersection between cultures, a chance to learn new things either from university or from society. Besides that, with the variety of corporation programs between global universities, anyone studying in Polytech can do an exchange semester or an internship in another country, participating international program or seminar which not only enhances your knowledge in the discipline you are following but also the meeting of new friends or new future chances, who knows? During my studies I had a great opportunity to take an internship in France – it was wonderful!
During the last year in Polytech, I got some chances for job offers relating to my skills. I worked nine months as a BIM coordinator for an American construction design company which its branch located in Russia. Honestly, it is not easy to get a job in Russia for the foreigners, especially if you do not speak Russian very well. However, everyone has the same chance if your skill is compatible to the job market. Recently, I have just moved to another job and at the moment, I am a BIM manager for a construction company in Moscow region, Russia. My first project is a nuclear station building in another country, I am running a team of 7 people which my responsibility is managing the workflow of 3D construction model and training my team necessary knowledge to achieve the project tasks. If someone say to you that you need a lot of experiences to get the manager position, I can prove to you that’s not true. I had approximately 2 years rounded experiences before getting this job. I believe the knowledge is as important as the experience, the satisfaction is just a fraction of the reality and the expectation.
Studying in Polytech has given me the inspiration and motivation to step forward on the path to become the engineer in my definition, my mind reflects the body knowledge of this world, I plan for my ambitions to meet the goal, and to find out more and more good sides for the society or at least myself.
Do not hesitate due to the language, when you seek for it, you'll find.

Initially it was difficult to dare to go to Russia from the faraway but I studied here earlier so I knew what to be prepared for. And I’m happy I did it.
I will always remember my international group from the years of my °ʷʼ¼ studies. During my Master’s I was working on “Energy efficient thermal insulation”.
To international students planning to come to Russia I would probably say: Be ready to learn the every day language. Be open-minded.
